Seven of the best anti-beach honeymoon locations

If you’re an active, outdoorsy type, who can’t stand lying still on a beach, then you need a honeymoon to reflect this.

You could go snorkeling, hiking, camping or exploring in Australia. As you know, the country has a lot to offer and is right on our doorsteps, so don’t ignore it! If you fancy travelling a little further from home though, we’ve got a few ideas for you.

The UK has plenty of places to visit that provide more than just a beach holiday. They don’t really have the climate for a beach holiday anyway! But they do have the stunning Lake District, the beautiful rolling hills of Scotland and the north of England, the quaint countryside villages in the Cotswolds and stunning coastal scenery in Cornwall, Somerset, Devon and many other similar places. You can camp or stay in traditional B&Bs, or even rent a cozy cottage.

You could travel to New Zealand and hire a camper van to drive from the north to the south of the country, taking in the stunning views and surroundings as you go. Adrenalin addicts can go bungee jumping or white water rafting, whilst film buffs can visit the location of the set of the Lord of the Rings movies.

If you want to do something really remarkable on your honeymoon, you could visit one of the wonders of the world. Travelling to Egypt will allow you to see the pyramids, ride camels and scuba dive in the incredible Red Sea, home to the most exotic of sea creatures.

Keep travelling through Africa to reach Kenya, if you fancy going on an action packed safari for your honeymoon. You can look out for lions, tigers and elephants as you travel across the African plains in a 4x4, before chilling out in a camp in the evening.

Those who want to do something really different could visit a cattle ranch in the USA to learn the tricks of the cowboys and spend time taking in the Grand Canyon and the deserts that come with Midwestern life.

Depending on the time of year you travel you could think about visiting the mountains of Italy, France or Switzerland to ski and sip hot chocolate in a log cabin. Gliding down a pine covered, snowy mountain on skis is the furthest you could get from lounging on a hot beach!

So there you have it, seven honeymoon ideas without a beach in sight! Explore your options online and with dedicated travel agents to make sure you have the best deal and trip for you, and you’re sure to have a honeymoon you’ll never forget!
