Getting married in Iceland is fairly straightforward and uncomplicated. You will need to send copies of your relevant documents at least 2 weeks before the date of your intended marriage. You can fax these and then make sure that the originals are received by no later than 5 days before your wedding date. A couple must b e over 18 and staying legally on the island, which is easily proved with a passport stamp, air flight ticket or a residency permit. Documents needed are a form of no impediment filled in by both parties and signed by 2 reliable witnesses, a certificate of marital status, birth certificates, and divorce/death papers if applicable.
