Getting Married in England

If you’re planning on getting married abroad, consider getting married in England. England has a vibrant mix of quaint villages with chocolate box cottages and busy cities filled with iconic sites. Get married in London and have pictures by an iconic red post box, before seeing the sites on the London eye, or say your vows in a small Cotswolds village, celebrating with drinks in the local pub and games on the village green. From old fashioned sweet shops to ultra-modern hotels, there’s something to suit anyone’s wedding needs in England.

Marriage Requirements

If you want your wedding abroad to take place in the UK, you need to apply for a visitor’s visa, and you must leave the country within six months of arriving. You must be 18 or over to apply for the visa to get married in England, and if asked, you must be able to provide evidence of your plans to marry. You should also be able to prove that you can afford to support yourself during your visit. You will be allowed to marry in any location that is licensed for that purpose if you procure a visa. To find out more about applying, visit the UK Border Agency website here: http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas-immigration/visiting/marriage-cp/visa/
