Getting Married in Croatia

If you're looking for a European destination at which to hold your wedding ceremony then perhaps you should consider Croatia. This up and coming destination has a diverse climate which is full of stunning scenery and it's simply brimming over with history and culture. With magical places in which to get married such as fairytale castles, boutique hotels, or even a palace, you'll have a truly romantic setting. Croatia also has plenty of stunning venues with scenic views in which to host a reception and weddings abroad in Croatia are totally unforgettable.

Marriage Requirements

Most couples have to settle for a civil ceremony since a shortage of churches only allows for roman Catholic weddings to take place. A couple need to apply to the registry office of the area where they want to get married and submit their documents at this time too. The recommended time is about 45 days before the intended wedding date. Documents include valid passports, full birth certificates (no older than 6 months) and certificates of non impediment and custom and law. The latter can only be issued by the embassy of your country in Croatia. Also full names and copies of your witnesses must be supplied.
