Getting married in Abu Dhabi is fairly straightforward once the couple meet the conditions and requirements set out by the Government. There are no civil ceremonies and the Sharia Court will perform wedding ceremonies according to Islamic Law regardless of the applicants nationalities. The main requirement is that the couple both have to be residents of the UAE. The documents needed include valid passports and birth certificates together with a certificate of marital status. Thi needs to be attested by the consular of the couples home country or the consular representative in the UAE. Once all the documents are in order application can be made to the Sharia Court. Two witnesses are required for the ceremony. There are several churches in Abu Dhabi which perform ceremonies for Christians.
