A Real Wedding Couple One Year On!
One of my favourite parts of the hitched.com.au site is the real wedding section full of beautiful
weddings and great ideas to inspire couples still planning their weddings.
Rachael and Brenton’s
real wedding was so beautiful, with an amazing French inspired themed in
honour of their Parisian proposal.
It was really nice to hear from Rachael, one year on from
her wedding, to find out about the couple’s vow renewal and catch up as they
celebrate a year as husband and wife!
To celebrate their first anniversary, the couple decided to
renew their vows. Photographer Sarah, who worked for Focus Films Photography,
the company that Rachael and Brenton picked to photograph their wedding, worked
with them again to capture the special day in a freelance capacity.
Explaining why they chose to renew their vows, Rachael says:
“We decided to renew our vows because we thought it would be a nice way to
celebrate one year of marriage together. With the traditional one year gift
being paper we thought that it would be the perfect way to mark the occasion
and it allowed us to focus on those special words which we had said and
promised to each other exactly one year earlier.”
“It definitely did feel very different to our wedding and we
didn’t want it to seem like our wedding all over again as nothing will ever be
able to replace those memories. It did however feel very intimate and special,
just the two of us which is exactly what we wanted. We just wore smart casual
clothing which reflected a French elegant spring feel – I did have a little
bouquet and Brenton a small little button hole also.”
When asked if they’d recommend a vow renewal to other couples, Rachael was very
enthusiastic: “I think we would both agree that recommending it to other
couples is a yes! It’s something that is very special and something that marks
your one year wedding anniversary with a difference.”
These pictures are so lovely and their day seemed so
special, I had to ask if this would become a regular thing: “I would like to
say yes in years to come. Whether that be for 5 or 10 years or longer. If we do
get to Vegas again then that would be a must. We are off to Paris and Italy
next year and as much as I would love to say we could renew our vows there too,
I think that you don’t want the novelty to wear off. The main thing is that you
remember your special vows to each other each and every day of your lives
together as husband and wife.”
Will you consider a vow renewal?
