In The Spotlight...Kuya Bunso Photography

by zoe@hitched

We want to help brides and grooms get to know the wedding suppliers on our site a bit better, so we’ve decided to pick some to present to you in a ‘getting to know you’ feature!

The first supplier to be included is Aly from Kuya Bunso Photography

Tell us a little bit about yourself; how you got started, what you do etc.

My name is Aly, I'm a mum to two gorgeous boys, who are my muses. My business is named after them, as I wanted a very 'me' name - 'Kuya' means older brother and Bunso means younger brother in Tagalog, which is the language of The Philippines, where I was born.

My Boutique Portrait Studio is located in a heritage listed building in Brisbane, with lots of personality and character and is inspiring and unique.

I celebrate life, and specialise in weddings, birth photography, newborn portraiture and a range of other portrait sessions.

What can a couple expect if he chooses to hire/commission/work with you?

Couples can expect that they won't feel like I'm just their photographer, but there for them. My priority is to not only get those images they want, but to make them feel relaxed and as stress free as possible on their already highly emotional day. I take the honour of being the photographer seriously, and consider it one of the highest compliments to be able to witness and capture those special moments like when a father first sees his daughter in her wedding gown, when the groom first lays his eyes on his bride as she's walking towards her future with him.

What inspires you?

Life inspires me. I believe real life, raw emotion and genuine interactions are beautiful.

What’s the best thing about your job?

The best thing about my job to me is the privilege of being able to immortalize other people’s memories.

Describe your perfect weekend…

My perfect weekend is camping in our camper trailer with my family! A gorgeous sunset and sunrise, a warm fire, a clear sky, and understanding just how lucky I am to be alive, healthy and blessed to witness the growth and development of two little men.

What’s your guilty pleasure?

Movie Popcorn and a Sour Apple Slurpee.

Describe your favourite wedding style…

I find up cycled vintage weddings to be just gorgeous and I also just love how creative and inventive brides are!
