Getting Married in the British Virgin Islands

If you're looking for a romantic tropical retreat on which to get married, then you might like to consider the British Virgin Islands. Marriage Requirements

The law requires that you reside in the BVI for a minimum of 3 days prior to getting married. To apply for a Marriage Licence you need to visit the Attorney Generals Office in Tortola where you will be required to pay $111.00 in BVI postage stamps for a Special Licence or $50 in stamps for an Ordinary Licence. Take with you valid passports to prove your identity and arrival. You will also need your full birth certificates and two witnesses to be present whilst you're signing the application and also to be at the wedding ceremony itself. To book a date for your wedding you need to take the completed application form to the Registrar Generals Office and expect to pay $35 if the ceremony is to be held at the office or $100 if it is to be held elsewhere. The completed form must show the names of both parties, ages, occupations, marital status as well as the names of 2 witnesses.
