Getting Married in Portugal

If you're looking for a European destination in which to get married that offers diverse landscapes, breathtaking scenery and gorgeous beaches to boot, then why not consider Portugal. Sharing the Iberian peninsular with it's neighbour Spain, Portugal has a warm and sunny climate for an outdoor wedding. With plenty of traditional churches, beach side resorts, wineries, hotel resorts or large banqueting halls at which to exchange your vows, weddings abroad in Portugal are very popular. The diversity of the landscape also makes for a great honeymoon location as well.

Marriage Requirements

Getting married in Portugal is much simple than it used to be and both civil and religious ceremonies are recognised. A couple will need to have passports or ID cards, a certificate of non-impediment and full birth certificates. These documents need to be translated into Portuguese and accredited by the consulate of their nationality in Portugal. Once these documents are ready a visit to the registo civil is necessary to apply to get married. Once this has been done, the wedding can take place 2-3 days afterwards. A couple will also need 2-4 witnesses. For more information visit http://www.gettingmarriedinportugal.com/info-legal/requirements/
