Getting Married in Malaysia

Malaysia is such a diverse place that has all the ingredients necessary to make your wedding. Whatever you decide to do, know that weddings abroad in Malaysia are something special. 


Marriage Requirements


To obtain your marriage licence both persons must give notification to the office of the registrar of marriages in the district that you want to hold your ceremony. Before this you must take up residence within the district for a minimum of 7 days. Notices will then be placed on the notice board for a minimum of 21 days and as much as 3 months. After 21 days your marriage licence can be issued. This is valid for 6 months. Documentation needed is: (1)  Passport along with a photocopy of the data of your entry into Malaysia (2) One coloured passport photograph of a standard Malaysian size (3)  Application form  Borang JPN KCO1 ( which can be obtained from the office of the registrar of marriages) (4) An Affidavit of your marital status.
