Only religious wedding ceremonies are legally binding in Dubai. Civil ceremonies are not recognised under Dubai law. Before a couple can get married in Dubai, at least one of them has to have been in residence for at least 21 days. The basic documentation needed includes valid passports, full birth certificates, passport sized photos of each of them, proof that they are free to marry, baptism certificates and a residency permit.
