If you're looking for a location to get married that is rich in culture, flamboyant in nature, and has some of the most stunning scenery in the world, then why not consider Brazil. With plenty of churches, beaches or hotel resorts at which to tie the knot, versatility is key, and weddings abroad in Brazil are fast growing in popularity. There's plenty of stunning hotel resorts, beaches or even rainforest venues in which to host a celebratory party or reception after you have exchanged your vows and with so many spectacular sightseeing opportunities and activities to try, Brazil is the perfect location for your honeymoon as well.
It is quite complicated to get married in Brazil but not impossible. Legal ceremonies are recognised as legally binding and can be held in conjunction with a religious ceremony of your choice. You need to apply to the Civil Registry Office at least 30 days before you intend on getting married, where you will need to complete a form and present certain documents. These include a valid passport or ID card together with a notarised birth certificate from the Brazilian consulate of the country of issue. You'll also need a declaration of civil status. In addition all documents must be translated into Portuguese and notarised and you need to give names and ID of your witnesses. After the banns have been advertised for 15 days, you are legally free to marry. For further information visit http://www.brazil.embassy.gov.au/bras/Getting_married_in_B.html
