Destination Wedding Diary

Our commercial manager Lindsey shares her destination wedding planning journey with you...

It's Lindsey's last blog before she gets married!

So it’s my last day at work as a Miss, I can’t believe it’s finally here! I feel like I have done a lot of talking about this moment and now it’s here I’m not quite sure how I feel. It’s really overwhelming; I’m going to see friends and family that I haven’t seen for over two years, coupled with marrying my soul mate! I’m still wondering what Sri Lanka is going to be like, hoping and praying I’m not going to get ill! If I’m honest...

Lindsey shares what happened on her joint hens and bucks party!

So when me and Smarty started on our little adventure to get married we knew we didn't want to do everything the traditional way…least of all the hens and bucks party . I think we have both passed the age of L plates and blow up willies and share many of the same friends in Sydney since we moved here together. So we looked around at the options of doing a joint party and given we both met at a festival it seemed only right that we have our send off at a festival with all our friends around...

Lindsey hits some bumps in the wedding planning road...

Does anyone feel over their wedding at the moment? I've loved every moment planning it but this week has felt hard work, I just want it all to be sorted as I feel like all I do is talk about it. I'm actually starting to feel a little nervous about the whole thing now too I started writing my vows which actually I found to be quite difficult. We aren’t saying the traditional western lines as we are having a Sri Lankan wedding coupled with a wedding register however I still wanted to...

Lindsey visits a very tempting Galia Lahav trunk show!

So having been a massive fan of Galia Lahav since I started working for hitched last year I was super excited to hear that Eternal Bridal now have exclusive distribution rights for the brand in Australia! What a perfect match, Sebastian and Lyndall put the bride at the heart of everything they do and offer such a first class service so I know they won’t let the brand down. Even though I have already found my wedding dress I wanted to go along to visit their trunk show to make sure I got up...

Lindsey gets makeup advice for her destination wedding...

So with only 8 weeks to go I figure I need to start getting ideas for the smaller things like hair and makeup. I have both a hair dresser and a makeup artist in Sri Lanka and this makes me both excited and nervous all at the same time. It will be great to have someone pamper me on the day and is one less stress that I have to think about but I will have no real dress rehearsal… So what could go wrong?! With the need to set my mind at rest I decided to have the dress rehearsals here and at...

Lindsey talks destination wedding favours and her no-seating plan idea!

With only 11 weeks to go until our official wedding day, I’m wondering where all the time has suddenly gone. My week so far has been focused on the wedding favours, centre pieces and table plan. Until now it hadn’t really clicked that these items aren’t actually included as part of the wedding package. However, I have come up with a fabulous plan which actually involves not having a wedding table plan ! To add a bit of fun and interest to the occasion, I’ve decided to use...

Lindsey tests out Mauritius as a honeymoon destination!

I can't believe I'm writing the blog from a plane this week as I’m on my way to Mauritius to explore it as a potential honeymoon destination. The down side is I couldn't take the other half so he has been left at home babysitting the puppy! Anyway back to my wedding. What a week! My penultimate wedding dress fitting, venue decisions and pestering the other half to make a decision on a best man… So my wedding dress fitting…it's so exciting the dress is really now...
